Antique Japanese 'Koro' Bronze Incense Censor C.1890

Fabulous lost wax cast Meiji Period C. 1890 bronze 'Koro' incense censor. The bronze is 'aka-do' or high quality red bronze and was only used until the late 20's. This censor has a dragon wrapped base and birds and bamboo in exquisite relief on the censor body. Atop the lid sid a 'shi-shi' fu-dog also in great detail. The handles are unusual art deco with elphant heads. The entire censor sits a bit with a tilt to the right. Comes in the original, signed paulownia wood 'tomobako'. box. Lovely work. H: 33cm; W:16cm
