| Early Taisho Period c.1910 antique Japanese lacquered wood candlestands with copper candleholders. Gold burnished lacquer with chrysanthemum carved bases. From the 13th century onward, the chrysanthemum has been a symbol of the Japanese imperial family and later the symbol was used as a family crest; at least ninty-five family crests exist in Japan based on the chrysanthemum motif. c.1910.
