| Late Meiji Period, c.1900 pair of Japanese antique bronze 'Shishi" lions frolicing with a bronze temari ball. One of the lion pups is on its back and there is a curved inverted hollow on its belly where a bronze replica of a temari ball sits. The other shishi lion is pouncing on it with its front two paws. The lifelike action gives this bronze pair a fabulous, playful ambience and the expressions on their faces is a masterpiece. Fabulous condition. c.1900. (14" x 14" x 9½") (36cm x 36cm x 24cm).
