| In the original signed box, this Chikubosai II bamboo flower basket is the ultimate wabisabi aesthetic both Chikubosai and his father and mentor Chikubosai I always strove for. Simple elegance at its best. Maeda Chikubosai II was born 1917 and died recently in 2003. He is featured in the book 'Bamboo Masterworks:Japanese Baskets from the Lloyd Cotsen Collection' p. 181. In 1995 he was named a Living National Treasure for the bamboo crafts. His baskets have a contemporary feel in the use of thin round bamboo stips to create geometrical designs. c.1960.
