Early Antique Meiji Bronze Usubata Flower Vase c.1885

Three piece antique Japanese early Meiji Period c.1885 bronze flower vase used for the tea ceremony and ikebana flower arrangements. The bottom stand is on three gourd legs with raised swirling waves. The body has raised geese flying amongst pines. Geese with pines connotates 'kanraigetsu' the eigth lunar month in the old calendar - the month of the geese's return. Folk beliefs associate geese with wedded bliss. The handles are mythical 'shishi' lions. c.1885. (10½" x 9½") (27cm x 24cm). EMS Shipping/Insurance to USA or Western Europe $95.
