Edo Period c.1865 Antique Japanese Bronze Suiban

Reflecting the deep respect for the culture of the tea ceremony, this Edo Period antique Japanese bronze 'suiban' flower vase was used for an ikebana arrangement for a tea house. The bronze dish on tripod legs is decorated with a wonderful dragon seemingly sipping from the void. The bronze dragon is masterfully sculpted with an almost playful expression.
