Zen Buddhist Traveling Muromachi Period Altar c.1620
Stunning age on this Muromachi Period Zen Buddha and zushi or traveling altar. The face has layers of soot from the temple candles and a very tranquil expression. Carved out of cypress wood. The zushi is black lacquered with gold gilt lacquer on the inside. The Buddha is priced so affordable for its age because the left foot has been replaced and the right hand reattached. Important to dealers but not important if you just want a great Buddha. c.1620. (22" x 10" x 8") (56cm x 26cm x 20cm). EMS Shipping/Insurance to USA or Western Europe $190.
