| Beautifully finished red negoro lacquered Buddhist temple table for offerings at the main temple altar. Thick layers of red lacquer over a Japanese cypress wood table. Japanese cypress was believed to be sacred and was used mainly for religious items. The negoro lacquer dates the piece to the late Edo Period, c.1860. Excellent condition. (16" x 11" x 11").
