| Beautiful Meji Period c.1900 negoro lacquer wood stand. Negoro lacquer was a technique developed by the zen buddhist monks at Negoro-ji temple south of Osaka in Edo Period to support their temple. Hemp gauze is applied to the wood stand then a black lacquer layer and over it, red lacquer.
