This wonderful signed Japanese vase captures Japans country side transitioning into fall. The motif depicts a quaint Japanese village in the mountains. There is a bridge crossing a flowing stream leading up to a Pagoda which towers over the surrounding maple trees. Flowing down the neck of the vase are vibrant red and gold maple leaves. A fine Japanese cloisonne vase depicting two songbirds in flight amongst a plum tree. At the base of the plum tree there is a variety of flowers including tulips, and peonies. This fine piece has a metal throat along with top and bottom mounts and is in great condition with a flea bite on the lower left side of the vase. No loss of enamel but can be felt with finger nail. A really fine cabinet piece for any collector. 7 ¼ in tall Later Meiji.

A superb Japanese round inlaid wood kogo with encrusted decoration. On the finely polished turned wood form, a Taoist figure is shown reading a meditational text while performing the chore of carrying heavy bundles of sticks. The weight of the bundle is shown through the support stick bending under the weight of the sticks. The scene is inlaid in ivory, blond and dark horn, tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl. This delightful Japanese Cloisonne vase is done in the Basse-Taille style with two red/orange Koi swimming with a black/purple Koi. Each fish has deeply engraved scales, yellow eyes with black pupils and expertly shaded fins and underbellies. A wonderful Japanese cloisonne vase of ovoid form with a short collared neck. The motif consist of two flying kirin, the fabulous mythical creature with the head of a dragon and the hooves of a deer, flying amongst blue stylized clouds over a stormy sea. A Japanese bronze ewer of naturalistic form, cast and engraved to resemble a tree trunk with engraved maple-leaf decoration. A charming group of three small boxwood okimono, depicting the sanbiki saru, the famed monkeys who "see, here and speak no evil". Each is well-carved in the round, two having eyes of inlaid horn. The fur details are subtly engraved and the monkeys have a whimsical expression. These are perfect cabinet pieces. It appears two toes on one monkeys foot have been recarved otherwise these delightful pieces are in pristine condition. Each monkey measures 3 in. in height. C. 1900.
