A fine squared shoulder attributed to Kumeno Teitaro. This vase has a lovely composition of egrets, iris and reeds in a marshy area. The royal blue is a wonderful background color for the pale yellow iris and complements the other enamel tones very nicely. The design meanders around the vase as if one was following the path of a stream in a Japanese garden with clumps of iris, other water plants and stylized water swirls.
