This nicely done, two piece set, depicts a father and his son working around their farm and preparing fish. The detailed carving and the nicely etched clothing make for a very nice display set. The pieces have a couple of age cracks (see last 2 pictures) but other then that, they are in good condition. Each piece measures 9.0 in. in height by 7.25 in. wide. Late Meiji or early Taisho.
This superbly carved Japanese Ivory Okimono stands 8 inches tall and was crafted at the turn of the century. The soft color of the aging elephant ivory beautifully accentuates the skillfully etched and dyed, highly detailed patterns of the figures outer garment. From the relaxed posture to the openness of the facial expression the Wiseman seems to be instructing one that peace is found by living in the present and real joy in the journey.
