This handsome Japanese Kobako, precious incense box, is made from Boxwood featuring branches of the Biwa fruit tree, executed in brown and Gold taka Maki-e lacquering with a nice splash of Mother of Pearl inlay. The box measures 5.2 in. by 4.0 in. and stands 1.3 in. tall. The piece is in excellent condition with only some wear to the gold of top leaf. No Restoration. Unsigned. Meiji era 1868-1912.
