| A charming group of three small boxwood okimono, depicting the sanbiki saru, the famed monkeys who "see, here and speak no evil". Each is well-carved in the round, two having eyes of inlaid horn. The fur details are subtly engraved and the monkeys have a whimsical expression. These are perfect cabinet pieces. It appears two toes on one monkeys foot have been recarved otherwise these delightful pieces are in pristine condition. Each monkey measures 3 in. in height. C. 1900. | ||||||||
