| A superb Japanese round inlaid wood kogo with encrusted decoration. On the finely polished turned wood form, a Taoist figure is shown reading a meditational text while performing the chore of carrying heavy bundles of sticks. The weight of the bundle is shown through the support stick bending under the weight of the sticks. The scene is inlaid in ivory, blond and dark horn, tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl. This fine piece is in excellent condition with only a few tiny nibbles at the edge of the lid. (See last picture) The kogo has a diameter of 3 ½ in. C. 1900. | ||||||||
