| Made from iron with gold and silver nuno-me zogan. A sakura petal design in the center of Kashira. It shows WABI and SABI which represents Japanese aesthetics. NISHIGAKI KANSHIRO (1613~1693), born in Fukuoka. He was one of the representative makers in Higo school during early Edo period. After he learned metal work by Hirata Hikozo, he was directly employed by Hosokawa Family (Daimyo) of Higo(Kumamoto). Characteristics of Higo school is a style which shows aesthetics of ZEN coming from Higashiyama culture in Kyoto under the tutelage of a military commander, Hosokawa Yusai Only the first-generation works written as KANSHIRO on the certificate.
