Finely painted pair of Kutani vases with opulently rich brocade decoration. These are 7" tall, 5 1/2" wide, 13/4" deep and have no condition issues beyond some "mellowing" to the gold on the creatures. These are the finest Kutani pottery pieces I have ever seen. A lovely pair of covered imari bowls.Diameter is 5" for the lid, 4 3/4" for the bowl. Height of the lid is 1", of the bowl 2 1/2". Condition is perfect. Signed "Nippon."
Early Japanese imari jar. Height is ", width is " Condition is excellent except for the missing lid. Iron red overglaze decorations on blackish blue cobalt and white porcelain. This is heavy for size and strongly constructed.
Unusual figural design hand painted on an 18" diameter imari charger. Design is highlighted by delicate gold embellishments to the clouds, the pine and throughout.
Depth is 3" and condition is excellent. There are several places where there is a subtle color change to the clay body that is probably from the firing process. (See images) This is part of the charger's handmade character and not distracting.
A classic Nankin Blue Willow pagoda design with figures in the landscape and on the bridge. Diameter is 9", depth is 1 1/2". Condition is good with a 1" super tight hairline to the rim, a few rim fleabites more easily felt than seen.
Large Japanese lacquerware tray with maki cranes on nashiki ground. Width is 21.5", width 12". Condition is good with small chips to nashiki edges, black back and several stains.(see image)The important parts are all present, well painted and this is worth repairing.
