| A Japanese tobacco pouch and kiseruzutsu pipe case in carved red and black lacquer (tsuishu, tsuikoku) with sages in a rocky landscape. The pouch is delicately hand embroidered in brown tones of Sagara embroidery with the finest silk thread depicting maple leaves and morning glories with vines. The clasp is in silver and mixed metal inlays shaped as a peony, coral ojime. The enlargement photo #6 is lighter in color to show the crack (also shown in photo #7), the length of crack is 2.5 to 3 inches long. The pouch is 3" W x 5 1/4" L, Kiseru zutsu (pipe case) is 8 1/2" long. Circa, Meiji period (168-1912). | |||||||||||||
