This dramatic vase attributed to seminal designer Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso and sold by the famous Pauly shop. The vase seems to move and bend as the light hits the many round and oval indentations that decorate its surface. Streaks of green and blue run up either side of the piece. The bottom interior is cased in a layer of turquoise which fades to cranberry at the top.
The vase bears an original foil Pauly label, which sits on top of a paper label bearing an invoice number, and possibly a factory name (obscured). Similarly carved vessels are shown in the book "Dino Martens" by Marc Heiremans. This is an extremely rare example by an important company. It stands just under 12" tall and is in excellent condition, with some dust (not staining) in the interior and some scratches on the polished base.
