Incredible, completely handmade 'passementerie' necklace by California artists Alex & Lee, circa 1980s. In assorted shades of green, orange, and gold cord holding a vintage rhinestone lizard head. The necklace is in excellent, gently used condition, with very minor signs of wear, but no damage.
Every Alex & Lee works of art are one-of-a-kind and unique. Their pieces have been featured in major magazines and runway shows. Their new pieces are sold in a handful of galleries, and the necklaces begin at $2,000. "Each piece is entirely handmade by Lee and Greg in their studio and home in Oakland, California. The unmistakable trademark of Alex & Lee is cord knotting in the tradition of passementerie (French or Italian for ‘passing of the cord’).
