Fabulous op-art belt buckle in red, white and clear Lucite by Aaronel deRoy Gruber, one of the "first ladies" of American art. Silver-plate. signed "Aaronel 1971." Very good condition with some light surface scratching.
Aaronel’s work can be viewed in both regional and national exhibitions. Her art is part of the permanent collections of the Butler Institute of American Art, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Frick Art Museum, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. and the Kawamura Museum of Modern Art in Japan. Aaronel's work is memorialized in "Aaronel: The Art of Aaronel de Roy Gruber," a coffee table-formatted, lavishly illustrated book, with text by Post-Gazette senior editor Miller, a foreword by Carnegie Museum of Art director Richard Armstrong and comment by Silver Eye Center for Photography executive director Linda Benedict-Jones. |
