Stunning and Completely Original mid to early 19th Century Lithophane Candle Shield. This item has an adjustable height to accomodate the burning candles changing height. The Lithophane itself measures 7 1/2" X 5 1/2". The unextended item stands 15"+ tall while when fully extended stands 19" tall. The Lithophane depicts 3 small people in the foreground pointing to a large monument upon a hill top with a Soldier or Rulers figure. The figure atop the Monument holds a sword in his Right Hand and points it to the Heavens. The revers of the Lithophane is impressed "PPM 37". The mount are most likely Brass, but possibly also Bronze. This item has No chips, cracks or repairs. Shipping is $15.00 in the Continental U.S.
