****SALE PENDING****

A Museum Quality Alfred Daguet jeweled Art Nouveau Box. As in all his works such as this, the original box is produced from a hard wood and the covered with repousse brass or copper inset with multi colored glass cabachons. This Lovely Box has a Japonisme crab which could well have been copied from the Manga by Katsushika Hokusai. I have posted a picture of the page from the Manga and outlined the crab in red. This box was most likely sold at gallery L'Art Nouveau, owned by Siegfried Bing. Alfred Daguet fabricated his unique objects in the studio above Bing's gallery in Paris, France. It is dated 1905 and signed on the bottom. The dimensions are 7.25" x 4.50" .
