This is a Victorian Scottish Mauchline Ware Tatting Shuttle in the Fern Ware finish, with a chromolithographic transfer entitled 'A SOUVENIR FROM EDINBURGH', & dating to around 1870.

The shuttle is navette in form, with a wooden centrepiece, & with both sides in the Fern Ware finish.

Unusually for Fern Ware, the shuttle has a chromolithographic print, in the form of a scroll & entitled 'A SOUVENIR FROM EDINBURGH', affixed to one side. The print is slightly raised above the shuttles surface, giving the appearance of decoupage.

Condition is Fine, with only a few small spots of very light bruising to the edges.

The shuttle measures approx 2 3/4" or approx 7cm in length.

Overall, an extremely scarce piece of Mauchline Ware, particularly in this combination of finishes.
