This is a novelty, souvenir 'champagne bottle' combination Stanhope, pipe, & cigarette / cheroot holder, from the Imperial International Exhibition of London 1909. The bottle, which is made of ebonised wood, unscrews in the middle & contains a cigarette holder & a 'pipe converter' (for wont of a better word !). The 'converter' pushes on to the holder, which then pushes into the hole in side of the base of the bottle, which acts as the pipes bowl. The 'foil' on the top part of the bottle is made of metal & contains a stanhope view of the 'COURT OF ARTS, INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, LONDON 1909'. Condition is extremely good for it's 100 years, the 'ebony' finish & the gold embossing are fine, with just some tiny loss to the top part of the bottle, the metal cap has expected plate loss, & the screw fitting is a little loose but complete (which is unusual to find - the few examples we've seen have been missing the metal 'thread' and/or do not screw together ). The pipe has never been smoked. The stanhope view is clear, but has age related 'fogging' or spotting around the circumference. The bottle is approx 5 1/4" high. This is the best example of this scarce bottle stanhope that we have seen
