Silver pl/Enamel 'Moreland England's Glory' Vesta c1905

This is an early Edwardian Silver plate & Enamel vesta or matchsafe, advertising Moreland 'England's Glory' matches, & dating to around 1900 - 1905.

The front of the holder has an enamelled brass plaque with the world famous trade mark design, in Red, Blue, & White enamel featuring 'HMS Devastation', & reads 'ENGLAND'S GLORY', 'MORELAND - GLOUCESTER', & 'BUY HOME MADE GOODS'.

The enamel is in great condition, with only a tiny little bit of loss to the 'sea' (R/H side of the ship).

The case has a hasp & suspension ring on one side, to enable attachment to an Albert chain, & an inset striker to the base.

The lip has 'EPNS' & a makers mark, a trefoil with 'c' in the upper leaf, but the bottom of the mark has been obscured during manufacture, when fitting the lip to the body.

Condition is good for it's 100 or so years, the front of the case is fine, one side of the case has a couple of minor bruises, & the rear of the case has bruising to the bottom 2 corners & 3 or 4 dings which in no way detract, given it's age, but please see magnified photos.

The lid & hinge are good and operate fine, with only a little sideways play, but the interior metal spar, which acts as the spring, is missing (does not affect opening or closing).

The case measures approx 6.5cm tall, & approx 3.5cm wide.

Overall, a rare advertising vesta, in pretty good shape for it's 104 years.
