Art Deco Silver Propelling Pencil SAMPSON MORDAN 1939

This is an Art Deco style solid Silver mechanical pencil, by the world renowned Sampson Mordan & Co, & fully hallmarked for London 1939.

The pencil has an engine turned engraved body with two cartouches, one with full London hallmarks, & the other being vacant. The top of the pencil is embossed with 'MORDAN EVERPOINT'.

The pencil operates by turning the top clockwise, which propels the lead (and anti-clockwise to return the lead).

The top pulls off to reveal an eraser, which in turn pulls out to reveal a compartment for the lead.

The pencil is fully hallmarked with the makers mark 'SM & Co' (Sampson Mordan & Co), the leopards head (London), the lion passant (925 sterling), & the date letter 'D' (1939 - 40).

Condition is Fine, the end cap has a couple of tiny bruises & the plain 'point' has a little tarnishing at the end.

The pencil is in full working order, although the end cap is a little stiff to pull out & the original eraser is brittle - a totally original pencil.

The pencil measures approx 4 5/8", or 11.7 cm in length, & weighs 25.3 grammes.
