This is a George V era solid Silver dish or bowl, by the renowned silversmiths James Deakin & Sons, & fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1931. The dish is oval in form with deep, flared sides, which have a beautifully decorated, geometric pierced work border with a series of pierced lozenges below, and a gadrooned rim. The dish is fully hallmarked to the interior lip with the makers mark 'JD over WD' (James Deakin & Sons - John & William), the Crown (Sheffield), the Lion Passant (928 Sterling), & the date letter 'o' (1931 - 32). The base is embossed with 'H7129', which is possibly a pattern No. Condition is Fine, there are 2 really tiny bruises, one to the edge of the base & one to the base (both invisible for all intents & purpose), but everything else is absolutely Fine. The dish measures approx 6" long, 4 7/8" wide, & 1 1/4" deep (approx 15.3 cm x 12.4 cm x 3.2 cm). The dish has been crafted from a heavy gauge Silver and weighs 96 g, 3.39 oz, or 3.09 Troy. Overall, a fine Silver dish or bowl, of the highest quality that would be expected of James Deakin, & in Fine condition for it's 77 years.
