This is a Victorian 'risque' cigar or cheroot cutter, made of brass in the form of a naked Lady sitting on a 'Potty' or chamber-pot ,& is of European manufacture, dating to circa 1880 -1890.. To operate the cutter, the Lady is hinged backwards (she is articulated at the shoulders) from the 'chamber pot', which reveals the V shaped cutting blade behind her ankles. The cigar or cheroot is placed in the bottom of the 'potty' & then the Lady is swung forward, cutting the cheroot. The cutter is cast in brass with a steel cutting blade, & there is a ring on the back of the Lady's head to enable attachment to an Albert chain. Condition is Fine for it's 120 year's, the only thing to note is that the facial features on the Lady are slightly worn, & there is a tiny split at the bottom of the potty (where the 'V' of the blade enters) which is the norm on this particular type of cutter & does not affect it in any way. The cutter sits approx 1 1/8" in height (approx 3 cm).
