This is a Murano Sommerso handmade studio vase, by the Italian art glass company Silvestri.

The vase, baluster in form, has been hand blown from an opaque, opaline glass, & then cased in a clear glass with dark blue glass inclusions, which are concentrated around the base & gradually spread & fade towards the top of the vase.

The vase has two applied, decorative reeded handles consisting of streched clear, white, & blue glass.

The base of the foot seems to have an impressed mark, or perhaps, it may be a smoothed, but uneven, pontil-mark (please see magnified photos).

The vase has it's original label consisting of the Silvestri logo, 'Arte Murano', & 'MADE IN ITALY'.

Condition is Fine, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The only thing to note is that during manufacture, the inside bend of one handle has been left with a small, rough edge (this is not a defect, & can only be felt).

The vase stands approx 7 1/4" or 18.5 cm high, & is quite heavy for it's size at approx 520 g.
