Doulton Lambeth Silver Top Pepper Pounce Shaker 1873

This is a Doulton Lambeth pounce or pepper pot with a solid Silver top, the base impressed & signed for 1873, & the Silver top fully hallmarked for London 1873.

The pot, most probably designed by George Tinworth, is finished in a Blue, Green, Brown, & White glaze, & features stylised seaweed? with applied detail around the base & applied 'limpet shells' around the top half.

The Silver top, which has a push fit, has a raised circular finial & unusual, scroll work, piercing.

The base of the pot has the impressed DOULTON LAMBETH in an oval mark, with '1873' in the centre, a signature (one of the letters looks to be either an A or M ?), & what may be an impressed number '6?' - please see photos.

The Silver lid is fully hallmarked with the makers mark 'EC over B' (for Richard & Brown), Victoria Head (duty mark), lion passant (925 Sterling), the date letter 's' (1873 - 74), & the leopards head (London).

Condition is good, with the only damage being a small chip to the base rim.

The pot stands approx 3 3/4" high.
