This is an original drypoint etching by Edgar Chahine (1874 - 1947) entitled 'SAINT GERMAIN - L'AUXERROIS', unframed, but in it's original opening mount, & signed & dated in print for Paris 1902.

The etching is on laid paper, with the printed signature & 'Paris 1902' to the lower left & the printed title to the lower centre.

The plate is attached to the mount at the top left & right hand corner margins.

The original hinged mount is made of card. The rear has an impression left by the wooden back of the original frame & a pencil notation made by the framers regarding the customers requirements. The impression left by the wooden back only affects the rear of the mount, & not the interior or the plate in any way at all.

The measurements are approx :

LAID SHEET - 32.5cm x 22cm.

PLATE - 30cm x 19cm.

MOUNT - 47.7cm x 32cm.

Condition of the sheet / plate is fine, with very light marking to the margin edges. The mount is good, with very light marks.

Overall, a fine & original etching by the renowned French artist, & in fine condition for it's 100+ years.
