This is a signed watercolour by the listed Scottish artist, the late James Reville RSW, entitled 'Dark Pool', with alternative titles of 'Swan Lake - Ledagrove - "Cob" Ham', & 'Birch Tree & Pool'.

James Reville RSW (1904 - 2000) was a Scottish watercolour painter from Dundee, & his works were widely exhibited including the Royal Academy (3 works during 1932 - 40), & the Royal Scottish Academy (12 works during 1932 - 40). He was elected to the RSA in 1960.

The painting has been framed & mounted under glass, with the rear having been inscribed by Reville, in ink, with his name & Dundee address, the three titles ('Dark Pool' scored out, & 'Birch Tree & Pool' in pencil), & a dedication 'for Robert Leishman' (Robert Leishman RSW (1916 - 1989) was a fellow Scottish watercolour artist who was elected to the RSA in 1970).

The condition is fine, although the work would benefit from a more suitable frame.

The frame measures approx 53 cm x 43 cm, with the watercolour being 35cm x 24 cm.
