An iconic piece from one of the most original and artistically accomplished designers from the Mid Century Mexican Silver Movement. This piece depicts a sail fish or Pez Vela. Most of the tourist that came to Taxco in the 40s, 50s and 60s were there fore the silver but also in transit to Acapulco. Men were excited about their possible catch, a large sail fish. I assume that any artistically sensitive wife would be conveniently attracted to this design "to make everyone happy". T ...click for details

This is a pair of extraordinary bangles. The design is pure, simple yet powerful. These hand-hammered, wide, concave bangles are the "poster child" of a true designer at his best. Bearing some of the earliest mark for WS these pieces are timeless but were made in the 1930s. Spratling, in our opinion, does not get much better than these! Glorious pieces. 8-1/2" of inner circumference and 0.4" wide with a concave surface. COLLECTOR QUALITY

This brooch is a wonderful treasure of the Mexican silver repousse tradition of Colonial silversmithing. The dove is a moving hanging piece on a frame of silver. The hallmark is incomplete but appears to have been Plateria Panamericana as described in Bille Hougart's hallmark reference book. Very much in the style of Matilde Poulat MATL. Measures 2-1/3" wide and 2" long.
The dove is a recurrent and iconic motif in Mexican culture. Having its roots perhaps as a symbol of love a ...click for details

Unique Salvador Teran pendant with a depiction of a crescent moon gazing at a star. This whimsical piece was doe by Salvador when he began his solo career in Taxco. During this period he signed his pieces as Taller. Later, when he moved to Mexico City he changes his hallmarks to Salvador. However he retained the same design numbers in his pieces. The pendant is offered on a modernist hand wrought chain signed by Sigi Pineda. These two pieces go very well together. This is a rare piece of mo ...click for details
