| A unique find, this necklace was crafted using Imperial Mayan Jade beads dating from the Classic Mayan period ~300 CE. These beads were used by the nobility because the dark green brought jade was very scarce and more valuable than gold. Jade was the most precious possession in Pre Columbian Meso America. The Maya consider Jade sacred and also jade protected the wearer from any illness or accident. These beads are extremely precious. They were incorporated into the necklace with interspersed Victorian gold beads. The gold beads and clasp is 14k gold. Pre Columbian beads are available elsewhere but not of this color and quality. These are the highest quality of the Mayan beads. 19 inches long contains 28 Mayan jade beads. COLLECTOR QUALITY | ||||||||||
