very fine sculpture of the Kamakura Period Go Daigo emperor reflecting the story of his escape from the exile. In 1331 Emperor Go-Daigo took arms against Kamakura, but was defeated by Kamakura's Ashikaga Takauji and exiled to Oki Island, in today's Shimane Prefecture. A warlord then went to the exiled Emperor's rescue and in response the Hōjō sent forces again commanded by Ashikaga Takauji to attack Kyoto. Very Fine Koro , incense burner .Dated and signed by the maker ( dated to Bunsei 11th or 1830) . Beautifully grained kiri wood with painted flower design and copper fittings . Receptor and cover is made of ceramic with top part covered with Mother of Pearl mixed black lacquer .. It is in excellent condition with original patinated sugi wood box included .. Box have several inscriptions including makers name , detailed description of the item and date .. Size : W. 22 cm , H 27 .
