This outstanding Cowan Pottery 12.75" lamp was designed by internationally famous artist Waylande Gregory in 1928. The glaze here is a crystalline gold and caramel (made with the mineral rutile), called October. (At Roseville a similar glaze was used a few years later for the line Russco.)

Original finial (extremely rare), with a little restoration. Vintage 1920s leather-look parchment shade, which is opaque enough to cause indirect lighting, but which has a little reddish coloring, to harmonize with the glaze color.

Great decorator item! Except as specified, no nicks, chips, hairlines or repairs.
