Here is a rare offering of two examples of ARKO pottery (so marked). The female figure is wearing a fur coat, and is glazed in "sang de bouef." She is 6.5" t. x 5.75" wide and also bears a paper label indicating the artist's name. The horse's head is 6" long and has a hole at the top so that he can be hung on a nail. I'm not sure, but perhaps he was intended to be used as a pipe rest, in addition to being decorative. Glazed in bronze. (The lady seems intended to function both as a sculpture and as an ashtray.) The horse has a very few insignificant flake-nicks at the bottom edge (see photos). The lady has no damage at all. Both are extremely rare and decorative, made ca. 1929 by students of Archipenko. Do not ask me to sell only one of these piece. Thanks. They so seldom become available that I have no idea of their true value. I only know what I have had to pay lately for equally wonderful and rare pieces, and because I have a 3rd example of ARKO in my collection, I am willing to consider selling these 2 as a kind of "trade in" toward the new acquisitions. You collectors will understand what I mean.
