A ready to frame set of four hand colored bird copper plate engravings on laid paper, N.d. Vogel. They have good color and only light toning on the very edges. One engraving has a spot inside the image (the last image). The paper measures approximately 7.25" by 4.75". Probably date to mid 18th century.
Offered here is a hand carved figure of a saint that I would date to the late 18th century. It is a nice carving and, remarkably, still has hands. The robe has nice movement, and there is an open book in his hand. The statue is flat on the back, although attention was paid to some detailing. On the pedestal the santo is 10".
Offered here is an antique human foot skeleton that would have been used in the study of medicine. The bones are wired together and many of the bones are labeled in ink directly on the bone. All of the bones are present and the skeleton is in fine condition. It measures just about 11" in total length.
Offered here is a beautiful and sensitive carving of a saint. His left hand is extended, he holds a book close to his chest in his right hand, his head and eyes are cast downward, and a pensive expression on his face as if praying. There are only remnants of gesso and old paint. The wood appears to be mahogany, which makes me think it may be Phillipino. 11.5" tall.
Offered here is a beautiful niche from a church. It is Catholic and probably Italian.
The colors are spectacular in red, blue and gold. A gilt cross and the letters IHS are front and center, and a fine carved shell in gilt is at the top. This niche is a corner piece, curved in the front, and was likely built in. The back of it is much later and probably added when it was removed from the corner. It stands 26" high and is 16" across.
Offered here is a fascinating, hand carved wood bust of two-faced figure. It is Philipino, Catholic, and 18th century. Whether this depicts the two sides of man, or Christ (or an angel) and Satan, I do not know. Either way, it's definitely an interesting religious artifact. The carving is very skilled and finely detailed. The "good" side has soft features and a beatific expression. The devil side has a horn, a pointy moustache, an upturned eye with a heavy brow, a pointy ear ...click for details

Offered here is a fine pair of Chinese white glazed porcelain lamps from the Qianlong period having a raised fish-skin and floral decoration along with panels of raised shield form smoothly glazed reserves. The lamp is mounted on a conforming wood base. Modern silk shades. Each lamp works perfectly, and is 23" tall to the top of the shade.
Offered here is a hand carved wood figure of, we believe, a Datu, or Tribal Chief, made during the 19th century colonial period of the Philippines. There are remnants of old paint. Particularly striking is the blue and white of the sash, and the garland of flowers and leaves around the head. The head is very well carved with nice features...a good face. Overall the figure has a nice, warm patina. Much of the arms and legs are missing, and there is evidence that something was attached to the ...click for details
