Offered here is a fine red tortoiseshell and boulle desk set consisting of an ink stand with two cut glass boulle topped inkwells and a stamp box, a stationery box lined in green leather and a large blotter also lined in green leather. Offered here is a fabulous French oak planter with barley twist legs carved rosettes on the corners and carved edging. All four sides are panelled in Longwy faience in an Asian motif, each side a little different. The colors are brilliant and the planter is just a dazzling piece. Offered here is a beautiful Chinese incense table dating to around 1840 from the Shandong Province. It has excellent carving on the sides and front with traces of old paint. There are two long and deep drawers with pulls, and space to hide things underneath the drawers. It measures 44" across, 29" deep and is 31" high. It has wonderfully rustic appeal and a fine patina.
Here we have a fine early creamware plate in a flower basket motif. The colors and design of this plate are similar to delftware pieces of the same period. On a cream ground, the colors are ochre, blue and sage green. The condition is very fine. There are a few gaps in the glaze along the edge and a smudge under the glaze on the edge, all of which appear to be in the making. The underside has a peppery looking discoloration in places. No cracks, chips or repairs. 9" in diameter.
Offered here is a fine, large platter dating to approximately 1780. It has a crest and a banner with the words "Per ardua ad astra". There was a professional repair to the platter which may be visible in one of the pictures, but it is hard to see. The platter measures 16.5" by 14". It has a fine orange peel surface, only minimal wear to the crest. Handsome and rare.
This is a delightful small baroque pricket, or candle stick, carved wood and gilded. It has a wonderful, mellow patina, much of the gilding worn away to reveal that beautiful old wood. It is a very sweet small size measuring only about 7.5" in height. It is in excellent, early condition, and dates to the early part of the 19th century.
Offered here is an 18th century English Chippendale style chair having a carved wheat motif on the crest and slats, and knees. The arms have curved grips, the cabriole legs terminate in pad feet and have a stretcher base. The chair is in excellent condition, and has some old repairs. It has a lovely patina.
