$159.00

Here we have a very interesting pouch, perhaps a purse, made of alligator embossed leather and an embossed brass top and two compartments. The main compartment, the interior, is lined in kid leather that was dyed a pale aqua. There is a shallow compartment in the top with a snap closure. The lid is embossed with a dramatic little scene (how I love these little dramas!) of a man who has stepped out of his log cabin with a shotgun taking aim at whoever is making off on horseback with his woman! ...click for details

$350.00

Believe it or not I actually have two of these (sold separately). The caster is 9" high and marked 800 Germany. It is circa 1900. It is repousse-ed to death, and really has some very fine work on it. There are flowers and ribbons and wreaths, acanthus leaves, and a small putto on the top blowing a horn. An utterly amazing piece. The two are identical, and I see no flaws or repairs.

$475.00

Offered here are 4 sterling silver small bowls by London makers John Aldwinkle and Thomas Slater, hallmarked for 1891-92. The bowls are very ornate and have a lobed form with repousse decoration all around the circumference in 3 different motifs. The bowl is raised on 4 feet that are applied to the sides of the bowl. The bowls are heavy for their size. They are 3.5" in diameter and stand 1.5" high. Some don't sit completely level on a surface.

Offered here is a fine set of sterling silver flatware serving 12 people. The set is missing one knife, so there are 23 pieces instead of 24, and has been priced accordingly. Each piece is all sterling and is fully hallmarked. Each piece is in excellent condition. The knife is just over 8" long, the fork is 7" long. The set comes in the original mahogany box. There is an age split in the wood on the lid. This is a fine set of silver, and I think it would be well worth having anot ...click for details

$239.00

Offered here is a white metal sculpture of a dog, probably a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (a Pit Bull), cast after the original by the French sculptor, Joseph Victor Chemin (1825-1901). The dog is obviously going after a flea, and this sculpture is a wonderful study of the dogs form and musculature. It was finished in a golden bronze patina, much of which has worn off over the years, leaving a much softer, more muted color. The dog, measured on it'as base, is 8" by 4.5". It is ab ...click for details

$18.00

Offered here is a very pretty antique sterling silver butter knife by R.W. & S., which became Wallace Silver. The pattern is called "Louvre", and it dates to 1866-99. The butter knife is monogramed with either a C or a D, depending on which way you look it. The knife is 5.5" long and has a very pretty form to the blade. The floral pattern is delicate and is particularly pretty where it drapes down into the blade in the front. I have 3 of these butter knives left. They ar ...click for details

$249.00

Offered here is a 19th century figural metal casting of a seated angel holding a baby, which we may presume to be the baby Christ. It is a fine casting with nice detailing everywhere and lovely faces on the figures. It would be a beautiful decoration at Christmas, although equally lovely any time of the year. The statue measures nearly 9" high and equal distance across. I weighs about 5 pounds. It is in very fine condition. The only flaw I have found is the little finger of the angel& ...click for details

$600.00

Offered here is a wonderful and early tole tray. The scene depicts peasants near a ruin in the foreground. One figure is on horseback. To the left there are two monks walking toward a steeple in the background. The tray is very well painted. The rim is a rich ochre or mustard color. The handles are applied and the edges are in a feather motif. The condition is as found, which is fair, but consistent with age. Old varnish, chipping on the edges and so forth, but it's flaws give it a ri ...click for details

Offered here is a wonderful, early, hand painted French scenic tole tray. The scene is that of some building on water, a man with his small boat, and figures in the background. The color is a deep mustard. The scene is painted in black and gray, the outlines and the wreath and the garlands are in black. The tray is marked FRANCE on the back. The tray measures 14" by 9.5" and is 1.5" deep. To die for.

This item is as I bought it. I don't know what it may have been part of, although it does not have a rough bottom that would have indicated that it was cut off of something. It is pressed brass and has lovely green oxidation and traces of old gilding. The figure represented may be a deity, since he wears a rather important looking headdress. The bust is 3" not including the stand. Measured on the stand it bust is 4.75" high.
