Offered here is a pair of truly fabulous candlesticks that are likely French in origin. They probably date to the early 19th century and possibly a bit earlier. They have impressive height (nearly 21"), and the most beautiful turned column. Each one is just slightly different, but close enough to be considered a pair. They have worm holes and nicks and bumps. The base at one time was drilled for lamps, but that has since been filled, and one candlestick has been repaired in a couple of ...click for details
Offered here is a beautiful carved wood figure of a saint in flowing robe, looking heavenward with an expression of awe on the face. The robe is entirely gilded and, remarkably, most remains. The face, hands, feet and base are painted, though have darkened over time. The back is mostly unfinished. The figure is in very good condition, although the toes of the left foot are missing. The height is approximately 13.5".
This capital is one of a pair I have for sale. It is hand carved soft wood (looks like pine), and put together with pegs and old nails. I believe it to be late 18th century to early 19th century. It is 7" high and 8" across at the top. I have put picture wire on the back so they can hang on the wall. They have very nice color. I like them hung as architectural elements, but they would hold a small vase or bowl or some other object on the shelf part. They are priced at $169.00 ea ...click for details
This is a beautiful carved gilt wood something-or-other. The motif in the middle seems to be a bird with wings spread and a crown on it's head. There is something underneath that, that looks like some kind of vegetation, but I can't be certain. It has pretty carved scrolls on the top, bottom and sides, and it is flat on the back. A hook has been attached to the back so it can be hung on the wall. Much of the old water gilding has worn away to the gesso and the bare wood, and there a ...click for details
This is a delightful small baroque pricket, or candle stick, carved wood and gilded. It has a wonderful, mellow patina, much of the gilding worn away to reveal that beautiful old wood. It is a very sweet small size measuring only about 7.5" in height. It is in excellent, early condition, and dates to the early part of the 19th century.
