Offered here is a 25" tall hand carved figure of a saint, most likely a figure of Christ on the Cross. It is hand carved out of a single piece of wood in kind of a primitive style and the detail, particularly on the head, is good. The arms are missing and there are age cracks in the wood. I don't know what kind of wood it is carved from, however it is a soft wood, and it has weathered to a soft gray color. I am guessing that it is South American.
Offered here is a fascinating, hand carved wood bust of two-faced figure. It is Philipino, Catholic, and 18th century. Whether this depicts the two sides of man, or Christ (or an angel) and Satan, I do not know. Either way, it's definitely an interesting religious artifact. The carving is very skilled and finely detailed. The "good" side has soft features and a beatific expression.
