SOLD

This is a fine, small painting, very impressionistic in style, of a landscape of trees and a path. The colors are wonderful pastels of green and pink, white, ochre, terra cotta. The The brushwork is confident and the work is skilled. The frame is almost an extension of the painting as it is done in layers of the same colors applied to the carved gesso surface. The painting is done on an old cigar box lid and is not signed. It is in excellent condition with no faults that I can see. It meas ...click for details

SOLD

This is a wonderful 19th century majolica jug with a lion on each side. The colors are scrumptuous, as all majolica is, and it has that deep raspberry interior. I think this in English, but I could be wrong. There is one little glaze gap on the spout, in the making, that is felt more than seen, otherwise no flaws. Not quite 4.5" high.

Here we have a charming Scottie dog sculpture, in a bronzed metal finish. He measures approximately 6" by 8". He is signed and dated 1931, but I am unable to make out the signature. He is nicely detailed and finely cast. The dog has an adorable tilt to his head, as though he is listening to something. He has lovely color and a nice patina. Excellent condition.

SOLD

This is a charming oil on board of a French landscape with a barn. The colors are superb sunwashed pastels of lavender, blue, melon and ochre that are typical of summer in Provence or Tuscany. Unsigned, in a gilt wood frame. The painting measures 17" by 14", as framed. It is early 20th century. The condition is fine...perhaps a small area of in-painting in a cloud, and some little nicks to the corners of the frame. None of it is distracting or more than expected for an earlier pa ...click for details

STOLEN

This is a wonderful etching by Frank Patou of Jack Russell terriers, I believe the term is "gone to ground". The title of the etching is "Notice to Quit". Among the many attributes of this work is the large number of remarques around the central image. There are 8 in all, all humorous, depicting mostly some interaction between man and animal. They really add to the charm of this unusual piece. The print has been professionally framed in a fine burlwood frame with a doubl ...click for details
