This is a wonderful painting of a dog smoking a pipe. He wears a collar with the name Pears on it. I like to think that this is a caricature of someone's favorite old dog, who may not have actually smoked a pipe, but whose personality was such that if he could have he would have. I think this dates before the turn of the century. It is in excellent condition and is in an early frame, possibly original. I have had it rematted. The size is approximately 21" by 22" as framed. SOLD

Wonderful painting of a small black dog of the terrier type. He has a little halter on with a big red bow on the back. It is signed but I cannot make out the signature of the artist. The frame is new but I believe the painting dates somewhere between 1900 to 1930. The size as framed is 12" by 14". The sight dimensions are 9" by 11". The painting is in excellent condition. Possibly from Germany.

Fuctional and decorative bamboo hall tree from the late Victorian period. All original, including the beveled glass. The stand is sturdy and stands 77" high and is 25.5" wide. The piece has 5 places to hang hats or coats, and will hold a pile of umbrellas and walking sticks. The original drip pan in the bottom keeps a wet umbrella from messing up the floor. English, about 1890.

What a great necklace and bracelet set! This set comes in the original box, marked Souvenir of Florida, and dates to the 1940's or 50's. Each piece is loaded with small irridescent turban shells and pieces of red branch coral. There seems to be no breakage or gaps in either the necklace or the bracelet. The necklace is choker length and measures 16". The bracelet is a little over 7" in length. If you like vintage jewelry or Old Florida items, you will love this set.

This is a wonderful little piece of, probably, Old Florida jewelry. It is unmounted, and not without some little flaws (which I will go into in a bit), but is so fanciful and delightful that is is almost irresistible. The mermaid is topless, as mermaids usually are, and is not quite discreetly covered by flowing tresses. She appears to be feeding a fish. There is seaweed in the background and rocks and what may be shells. Her tail is silver (as is her hair), her skin is pink, mossy greens a ...click for details

Very dramatic subject of frightened horses fleeing a fire. Oil on board, dating to probably early 20th century, though it could be earlier. The frame is newer, but still is 20 to 30 years old I believe. The painting is well done, the horses quite realistically frightened of the fire approaching out of the upper left corner. Quite a bit of texture, or impasto in the painting at the bottom which rather adds to the realism. The painting is in fine condition although the frame has some slight d ...click for details

This is wonderfully unique piece, made during the late Victorian period, when the fondness of all things oriental was at it's peak. The Japanese influence is seen in the fan design of the pediment. There are 3 fans there, 2 that are carved and superimposed on one another, and one is incised and picked out in gold leaf. The sides are painted designs of birds and flowers, some of which is highlighted in gold leaf, and the drawer is done in the same way. The front has reeded pilasters, a gl ...click for details

This watercolor is believed to be by Andrew Benjamin Donaldson, England, 1840-1919. It is wonderfully graphic and evokes an image of England during the industrial revolution. The colors are are gorgeous and the detail is wonderful. Very well painted, and an interesting subject. Newly framed and matted, in non glare glass (nevertheless, I cannot seem to capture a good photograph). The size as framed is just under 19" by 16". The sight dimensions are 12" by 8.5".

This art nouveau cuff has a repousse motif of florals...big chrysanthemums or Peonies, I know not which. The sterling is pierced around the flowers for a delicate touch, and there is a cartouche in the center for a monogram. The cuff is 1.5" wide and fits snugly with a 1.25" gap at the back for easy on and off. The mark is the one used by Frank Whiting from 1896-1940. The mark is worn rather flat so I'm judging that the bracelet may be rather early. There is a small crease wit ...click for details
