SOLD

Offered here is a hand carved figure of a saint that I would date to the late 18th century. It is a nice carving and, remarkably, still has hands. The robe has nice movement, and there is an open book in his hand. The statue is flat on the back, although attention was paid to some detailing. On the pedestal the santo is 10".

SOLD

Offered here is a beautiful and sensitive carving of a saint. His left hand is extended, he holds a book close to his chest in his right hand, his head and eyes are cast downward, and a pensive expression on his face as if praying. There are only remnants of gesso and old paint. The wood appears to be mahogany, which makes me think it may be Phillipino. 11.5" tall.

SOLD

Offered here is a beautiful niche from a church. It is Catholic and probably Italian. The colors are spectacular in red, blue and gold. A gilt cross and the letters IHS are front and center, and a fine carved shell in gilt is at the top. This niche is a corner piece, curved in the front, and was likely built in. The back of it is much later and probably added when it was removed from the corner. It stands 26" high and is 16" across.

Offered here is a beautiful statue of a shepherd boy with a sheep. It may be a religious statue depicting Christ as a boy. It is a fine casting in what appears to be plaster. The signature and mark are shown in the pictures. The statue measures about 5.75" tall.

SOLD

Offered here is a hand carved wood figure of, we believe, a Datu, or Tribal Chief, made during the 19th century colonial period of the Philippines. There are remnants of old paint. Particularly striking is the blue and white of the sash, and the garland of flowers and leaves around the head. The head is very well carved with nice features...a good face. Overall the figure has a nice, warm patina. Much of the arms and legs are missing, and there is evidence that something was attached to the ...click for details

SOLD

Offered here is a beautiful, early carved wood and gesso santo. It is finely carved which imbues the figure with great dignity and grace. Note the beautiful face and gentle gestures. The statue is missing two fingers and one hand and would have been affixed to a base. I feel fairly certain this is an 18th century piece. 12.5" high. Priced as is.

SOLD

Offered here is a fabulous heavy, metal lamp base with old red paint. The base is cast in an acanthus motif all around the circumference of the base and it is raised on four acanthus form feet. It is drilled for a lamp but would make a wonderful base for a large vase or bowl. The diameter of the top is 5.75" overall, but the diameter of the base where a lamp or other item would sit is 4.25". It is almost 2.5" high. A great look!
