SOLD 

Offered here is a small round box made of ivory and tortoiseshell. The top is decorated with a lavender guilloche enamel and gold medallion with a deep red stone set in the center. The inside of the box is tortoiseshell and there are thin bands of tortoiseshell around the outside of the box. I doubt that the stone is genuine but I do not know about the gold on the top. The ivory has the pretty graining you would expect and the color is nice and mellow. I would say the box would be late 19th ...click for details

SOLD 

For those who don't know (I didn't), this is a bread or toast fork. It has a ivory handle carved with notches, a sterling ferrule, and tines of silver plate or other material. If you don't have one of these, you surely need one. Although it is meant to be a serving piece shared by all, I daresay you would always get to eat the last piece of garlic bread if you want to, with one of these beside your plate.
