Offered here is a beautiful carved wood figure of a saint in flowing robe, looking heavenward with an expression of awe on the face. The robe is entirely gilded and, remarkably, most remains. The face, hands, feet and base are painted, though have darkened over time. The back is mostly unfinished. The figure is in very good condition, although the toes of the left foot are missing. The height is approximately 13.5".

The wonderful colors and shapes in this painting are what immediately attracted me to it. These are (I believe) Ecuadoran women at market wrapped in their colorful blankets. The anonymous women appear to have fruits and vegetables spread out before them, a clay pot, and you can see the skirts of other women in the background but, clearly, the beautiful blankets are the subject of this painting. It is signed in the lower left in bold script but I cannot make out the signature. It is framed in ...click for details

Offered here is a small oil on masonite of a procession of figures in robes and turbans near two large rock formations. The figures are faceless and you cannot tell whether they are male or female figures, except for the fact that the two figures on the far right seem to be a good bit taller than the others, which leads me to think they may be men. I don't know whether it is a somber procession or simply a moment frozen in time, but that is part of what I like about the painting...the myst ...click for details

Offered here is a wonderful oil on board by the well listed American artist, Joseph Margulies (1896-1984). The painting depicts a European scene of a small market and people buying and selling vegetables. There is a woman on the stairs with her purse on her hip and a bower of flowers in her other hand, and a man looking out the upstairs window, both looking out as though at a camera. The painting is bright and vibrant, with skillfully layered colors that reveal the complexities of the objects ...click for details

Offered here is a fine, hand colored litho by Benson Bond Moore of the tiny Heron, the Least Bittern. The Least Bittern is a migratory marsh bird found throughout North America, and from southern Canada to northern Argentina. It is protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918. Benson Bond Moore was born in Washington, DC in 1882 and died in Sarasota, Florida in 1974. Some of his best work (in my opinion) is of Florida birds, landscapes and marshes, which have brought huge auction pri ...click for details

Offered here is a very fine impressionist painting depicting a woman at a water pump on the grounds of a monastery in France. There are chickens in the yard. The subject of the painting is the charming architectural details of the building. It is very well painted and in the manner of Colin Campbell Cooper, but later of course. There is a notation referencing CC Cooper in pencil on the back of the board. The painting measures 10" by 12" as framed, and the image is 7" by 9&quo ...click for details

Offered here is a very fine little oil painting on board, depicting a farmhouse in the French countryside with a horse tethered outside the barn. It is well painted, rather in the manner of Colin Campbell Cooper, in fact there is a notation to that effect in pencil on the back of the board. It appears to have been done in the 2nd half of the 20th century, and it is in a modern frame. In the frame the painting measures 12" by 10". The site dimensions are 9" by 7". SOLD

Offered here is a good, early portrait on tin of a gentleman in fine clothes. I believe it is American, circa 1840. It is framed in a thin wood frame that fits well, but is probably somewhat later. The painting measures approximately 8" by 10". It is in good condition considering it's age. There is paint loss mostly on the edges and a sprinkling of small paint losses in the area of the clothing. Someone wrote "To Bill" on the back with magic marker. The painting co ...click for details

SOLD

Offered here is a fine cast bronze figure of an angel on a wooden base. It is a beautiful casting with delicate detailing and graceful form. The wings are attached from the inside...somehow. The statue stands over 13" on the base. It is very heavy. The only flaw I see in the statue is that the angel appears to have once had something under her right foot. Whatever it was is no longer there. I would say this dates to the early 20th century. It is not marked.
