This neat old painting is being sold as is. It depicts a ship and men logging on a river. There are cliffs in the background. The painting is large. The measurements are 36" by 31" as it's framed, and it is a 3.5" frame. It has some difficulties. There are 2 holes, one of which is approximately 1" in length, the other is about 1/2". There are small, old repairs visible from the back. It has old varnish that has yellowed, which actually looks kind of nice to m ...click for details

This is a delightful painting of a summertime French or English landscape with figures and animals. A flock of sheep head up the trail being herded by a dog, while a young boy trails his fingers in the water of stream. You can see an adult working in the field in the middle ground, bright fields of wheat and blue skies behind him. Everything we wish summer was! The size as framed is 24" by 28". The painting dates to the late 19th century, possibly a little later, and the frame is n ...click for details

Offered here is a most appealing abstract of a cafe table with flowers and fruit. The colors are fresh and vibrant, the style loose and lively. I believe it is painted in oils but I could be wrong...it may be acrylic paint. The painting is signed m.sonners, possibly sommers. It is framed and matted and is under glass. As framed, it is 19" by 16". The sight dimensions are 9.75" by 7.5". It has not been examined outside of the frame. This is a most attractive and decora ...click for details

Here we have a wonderful large painting, oil on Masonite, done in a very atmospheric style reminiscent of much earlier French paintings. In the painting there are wonderful tall trees, a river or large lake, and figures cavorting around the base of the trees. The painting may be allegorical. Masonite was invented in 1924, so I'm placing the painting around 1930 or so. It is not signed and I do not know the origin (I'm guessing European). It is not framed. The size is 36" by 28 ...click for details

This is a very appealing painting of a bucolic scene in the country. It has everything going for it with a figure on horseback, a dog following the horse and rider, ducks in the pond. Painted in impressionistic style, the landscape looks soft and peaceful. Not terribly old I do not think...maybe 70's or 80's. The painting is a good size. The dimensions are 18" by 22" as framed. The sight dimensions are 11" by 15". Excellent condition but for a little looseness ...click for details

This is a wonderful painting of a dog smoking a pipe. He wears a collar with the name Pears on it. I like to think that this is a caricature of someone's favorite old dog, who may not have actually smoked a pipe, but whose personality was such that if he could have he would have. I think this dates before the turn of the century. It is in excellent condition and is in an early frame, possibly original. I have had it rematted. The size is approximately 21" by 22" as framed. Wonderful painting of a small black dog of the terrier type. He has a little halter on with a big red bow on the back. It is signed but I cannot make out the signature of the artist. The frame is new but I believe the painting dates somewhere between 1900 to 1930. The size as framed is 12" by 14". The sight dimensions are 9" by 11". The painting is in excellent condition. Possibly from Germany.

Very dramatic subject of frightened horses fleeing a fire. Oil on board, dating to probably early 20th century, though it could be earlier. The frame is newer, but still is 20 to 30 years old I believe. The painting is well done, the horses quite realistically frightened of the fire approaching out of the upper left corner. Quite a bit of texture, or impasto in the painting at the bottom which rather adds to the realism. The painting is in fine condition although the frame has some slight d ...click for details

This watercolor is believed to be by Andrew Benjamin Donaldson, England, 1840-1919. It is wonderfully graphic and evokes an image of England during the industrial revolution. The colors are are gorgeous and the detail is wonderful. Very well painted, and an interesting subject. Newly framed and matted, in non glare glass (nevertheless, I cannot seem to capture a good photograph). The size as framed is just under 19" by 16". The sight dimensions are 12" by 8.5".
