Offered here is a wonderful and lively impressionist style painting of a small church in a European village in vibrant colors. Framed size is 24" high by 27" wide. There is a monogram in the lower left corner, however I have not been able to identify the artist. 20th century.
This is an absolutely charming portrait in oil on masonite of a young girl in a big hat. Marantz studied at the Art Student League. He exhitited at the Guggenheim Museum, MOMA, Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney and more. He is listed in Davenport, Who Was Who in American Art, and Mallett among others. There are a few paint losses which I have pictured. Signed in the lower right corner. Framed in a gilt and painted wood frame. The measurements are 14.5" by 18" in the frame.
Offered here is one of two fine 19th century watercolor paintings by George Stanfield Walters (1838-1924). It depicts sailing ships along a coastline. The image is approximately 19" by 13". The paintings are framed and matted and have not been examined outside of the frame. I think one will prefer to reframe the paintings since the frames are not of the period and are, frankly, unattractive (try ghastly). The paintings, however, are quite beautiful and appear to be in excellent shape. ...click for details

Offered here is a wonderful oil painting of a narrow street filled with people and animals. I would say it's location is North African but it could be Middle Eastern. The painting is very well done. The artist has excellent command of light and shadow and light impasto technique. The colors are beautiful and the figures and donkey are quite good. It is painted on artist board and signed, unfortunately, illegibly. It is framed in a gilt wood frame that is probably original to the painti ...click for details
Offered here is a well painted seascape in the impressionist style. If I'm not mistaken, Hove Beach is in England near Brighton. This painting is signed on the verso, and dated 1977. I cannot make out the signature, unfortunately, but have provided a picture of it so you can have a go at it. The painting is framed beautifully and is in fine condition. The dimensions are 19.5" by 14.75". The image is 13.25" by 8.5".
Offered here is a large oil painting by noted artist, Nan Cunningham. It is a vibrant still life in a 30" by 40" size. Nan is well represented in galleries throughout the South and has exhibited numerous times in group shows and one man shows. Nan Cunningham, as described by a contemporary, “is a powerful colorist who makes any subject her own: from still life to figures, with animals or dynamic abstractions, her style is unmistakable and riveting.” You can read more about the art ...click for details
Offered here is a fun little modernist painting kind of (loosely speaking) cubist in style, and done in impasto with nice colors and a rather appealing naivete (love that table top!). It appears to have been painted between 1950-1970 in my opinion. It is not framed, and someone rather recently painted the edge white, I suppose to give it a fresher look. The painting is signed on the verso "Basoa", and below that "J. Shapiro". The canvas on the back has toning, and the str ...click for details
The wonderful colors and shapes in this painting are what immediately attracted me to it. These are (I believe) Ecuadoran women at market wrapped in their colorful blankets. The anonymous women appear to have fruits and vegetables spread out before them, a clay pot, and you can see the skirts of other women in the background but, clearly, the beautiful blankets are the subject of this painting. It is signed in the lower left in bold script but I cannot make out the signature. It is framed in ...click for details
Offered here is a small oil on masonite of a procession of figures in robes and turbans near two large rock formations. The figures are faceless and you cannot tell whether they are male or female figures, except for the fact that the two figures on the far right seem to be a good bit taller than the others, which leads me to think they may be men. I don't know whether it is a somber procession or simply a moment frozen in time, but that is part of what I like about the painting...the myst ...click for details
